Chevron beads date from the 1300's and are one of the oldest surviving types of large Trade beads. Originating in Venice they were traded throughout Africa, Asia, and later, the Americas. Layers of different colors of glass rods form a multi-pointed star when viewed on end. This labor-intensive work is reflected in the price. Also, due to their hand-made nature, sizes will vary. These are perfect beads for that ‘old time’ effect.

When you investigate other Chevron Beads "always" ask if they are built up from layers of colored glass rods (as these are), or are the lines painted on which gives a much cheaper bead, in both price and quality.
